I'll certainly bring up some of those games when I do a follow up. This was designed to be more crash course than actual review, but I know there's a ton more games out there. I've also been recommended Victoriana and Runepunk.

Couple of typos... it's Warmachine, not War Machines; likewise, Savage Worlds, not Savage World's.

Also take a look at Castle Falkenstein (especially Sixguns & Sorcery), Unhallowed Metropolis, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, and Sorcery & Steam (a d20 supplement).

Oh, it's nothing as scary as that. Gorey is a humorist, or, erm,...something. I don't know how to describe him. The Gashlycrumb Tinies is a morbidly hilarious parade through the alphabet. A is for Amy who fell down the stairs, B is for Basil, assaulted by bears. Etc.

Really, I'd be surprised if you don't end up on the floor in stitches by the time you reach D. Of course, it changes somewhat with memories of WIB in mind :-\

I'll take your word for it not being one who likes to actively scare myself! Glad to hear you liked the movie, though. It was really well put together and I'm glad it didn't drag out like some might've tried to do.

Saw the film yesterday afternoon, and it lived up to every bit of praise I'd heard for its quality as a first-rate Victorian ghost tale. Daniel Radcliffe continues to impress me, and the cast as a whole was top shelf.

My wife points out that the inspiration for the novel this film was based on may, in fact, have been an attempt at explaining Edward Gorey. Thumb through the Gashleycrumb Tinies, if you dare. And have a gander at the nanny escorting the children. Bit of an odd choice of color for her to wear, eh? ;-)
