Crowdfunding Showcase – The Pacific Pinball Museum

The Smithsonian of Pinball – Pacific Pinball Museum
19 days left and 1% funded at $4890 of $1.5M

It’s hard to say anything about this project that might be better than what the creators say themselves:

The Pacific Pinball Museum, founded ten years ago, is a 501c3 non profit dedicated to preserving the art, science and history of pinball. The museum currently has  90 games set to free play for one admission price. Our museum is educational, interactive and fun.

Pinball, its art, science, and history, collected under the roof that currently shades the Exploritorium. That institution is moving out of its long time home at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, originally home to the 1915 Pan-Pacific Exposition. After the Exploritorium has relocated, The Pacific Pinball Museum would like nothing more than to move in as the new tenants.

Other campaigns on Indiegogo this week:

Dan’s Family Van
24 days left and 63% funded at $1450 of  $2300

This Steampunk has need of a new transmission for his family van. He’s known for always being at the ready to help his fellow Steampunks, and now he and his family are in a bit of a dire need. Their three children are all autistic and need to make regular visits to doctors and care providers. Using public transportation, while an option, is not anyone’s first choice. Dan and his family may not be able to count strictly on local support from those he’s helped in the past, so anyone and everyone please consider lending if you can.

Save Aquarius Reef Base
66 days left and 2% funded at $2565 of $100,000

All you Vernians out there, here’s a modern day real world project worthy of Captain Nemo’s attention. Aquatic scientists and researchers have an underwater station in need of repairs and funding to continue their mission. Healthy oceans = healthy planets.

Ada Lovelace Day – Fundraiser
32 days left and 3% funded at $790 of $24,000

A wonderful project aimed at celebrating and encouraging women engaged in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths). This isn’t a nascent effort, by any means, as Ada Lovelace Day was first celebrated in 2009 and has grown every year since. The founders are partnering with other women’s organizations (Women’s Engineering Society) to expand the scope and reach of the yearly event. As a volunteer-run effort, the organizers are hopeful they can generate revenue not only to pay for the administrative side of things but also to cover the costs of establishing Ada Lovelace Day as a charitable organization with a web presence and a more secure future.

The Improbable Journey of Berta Benz
25 days left and 9% funded at $4020 of $50,000

Another effort at recognizing the contributions of women throughout history. The first person to drive a motorized carriage was Berta Benz, spouse of the man known for inventing the infernal machine in the first place :) Her story is told in animation and is just the first in a long line of projects by the Gutsy Gals Inspire Me organization.
