Crowdfunding Showcase: Hydrogen Skyline – Steamstock performance date

This week’s crowdfunding showcase is another piece of big news. Hydrogen Skyline has been asked to perform at Steamstock! None other than Captain Robert suggested these Colorado Springs Steampunks be added to the line up. Festival organizer, Brian Gardner, was happy to bring them on board. The issue is travel expenses. We understand that time travel is more efficient, but we can’t imagine it coming in cheaper than conventional routes.

Hydrogen Skyline’s Indiegogo campaign lines it out in clear detail. The band is Going to California. They need your help to get them there. And for even the modest amounts of $15 or $25, backers receive some pretty cool rewards. Check out the videos and music below for a taste of what Hydrogen Skyline can bring to Steamstock. Then swing over to their campaign page and chip in what you can!

Hydrogen Skyline – Steamstock Performance

38 days left and 1% funded at $365 of $5000

Also on Indiegogo this week:

Tesla Museum – Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal)
30 days left and 138% funded at $1,175,036 of $850,000

You heard the news, of course. The Tesla Museum hit its goal. Somewhat out of the freaking park, we might add. If you haven’t chipped in yet, there’s nothing stopping you. The State of New York remains in the background with a matching grant of $850,000. That means we’ve met the asking price of $1.7M. All funds above that will go towards renovation and building the museum itself. And there’s still that pesky counter offer from a developer. Somebody wants to put retail all over Tesla’s old laboratory site. Grrrrrr…..

RAFM Miniatures Space 1889 Figure Collection
20 days left and 1% funded at $1,228 of $18,890

This one should appeal to the gamers among us. Okay, okay, I know that means just about everyone, but different tastes and all that. Some of the rewards on this one are incredibly cool. Lots of personalized options, and at the $500 level you get to be part of the design team!

The Door in the Sky – Volume One of the Darknoll Chronicles by Lee Moan

8 days left and 17% funded at $200 of $1,200

An interesting new Steampunk mystery series is in the works. Lee Moan has the first of a three part series written and needs help funding production of the novel. In the author’s words, it’s a bit of “Sherlock Holmes meets H.P. Lovecraft.”

And over at Kickstarter:

Steampunk ABC – An Alphabet Book of the Victorian Era
27 days left and 22% funded at $1999 of $9000

An impressive beginning to this campaign, which is only four days old as of this writing. Readers may recall a similar and recent effort, but that project took a different approach to the ABCs. Whereas Nat Iwata re-imagined the items of his alphabet, coming up with marvelous and fantastic uses for them, Karen Luk’s project draws on actual historical data for each of her entries.

Creature Academy: The Legacy – Steampunk graphic novel by Kevin Hanna
28 days to go and 1% funded at $900 of $10,000

This one comes from the minds and pens behind stories like Clockwork Girl, and a recent version of the classic Logan’s Run. These are serious graphic artists and writers with a good catalog of work behind them.
